Welcome to the Fundraisers and Projects page for the Kiwanis Club of South-West Peoria.

The following are some, but not all, of the projects and activities of South-West Kiwanis Club of Peoria.

2017-2018:  Fundraisers

     Cheese sales are a major fundraiser for the club.  Cheese will be sold at area hospitals in November and December.  Please check the "News" section on the home page for dates and times.

2017-2018 Community Projects:

      Day Treatment School at Trewyn - This partnership was created between Peoria Public School Foundation and South-West Kiwanis of Peoria.  Club members work with students as mentors and tutors. They also volunteer to help plan activities for parents and staff.  This project began in in 2016.

        Lend A Hand - This project makes funding available to children with disabilities in need of equipment relevant to their special needs.   The Club reaches out to families who have exhausted all other funding sources.  This project began in 2017.

        South-West Kiwanis is the second longest continuing donor to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, and an original contributor to the "Saint Jude Run" from Memphis to Peoria

        Children's Hospital of Illinois is an on-going beneficiary of South-West Kiwanis.

The following are notable community projects of South-West Kiwanis Club:

Annually provides new flags to the City of Peoria Constitution Garden Flag Day Ceremonies.

1980 -- South-West Kiwanis sponsored the first Peoria County Sheriff's Award Luncheon

1976 -- South-West Kiwanis constructed the Viet Nam Memorial in Glen Oak Park.  This is the first such Memorial in Illinois. It was recently expanded to include the veterans of all wars.  We have conducted a Memorial Day Service there every year since 1976.

1963 -- With other Peoria Kiwanis Clubs, sponsored development and construction of Kiwanis London House for senior citizens, with continuing support for many years including the present.

The following are additional South-West Kiwanis Club project contributions:

  • Spastic Research Foundation
  • The Penguin Project
  • Emergency Fund -- Any child may obtain assistance through the Club's Emergency Fund.
  • Fund annual College scholarships for two Manual Key Club graduating seniors.
  • Assist with the Infant Car Seats, a program to provide infant car seats to parents.
  • Participate in various mentoring/reading programs
  • Martin Luther King Program
  • Presidents' Day Program
  • Arbor Day Tree Planting 
  • Memorial Day Ceremony
  • Flag Day Ceremony
  • Labor Day Program
  • Veterans' Day Program:
